Photography is intrinsically connected to technology. From the camera obscura to the smartphone, the evolution of the medium has been fuelled by technological progress. But throughout history, photography has always remained an art centered around capturing the world in which we live. At a time when our lives to a great degree take place in digital environments, a new kind of photography is emerging. 'Virtual worlds' offers a glimpse into the new art form of in-game photography. The exhibition showcases artworks from pioneering photographers working within games. It explores how timeless principles of photography merge with state-of-the-art graphics.
